Pods by Future Rooms supplied two Retreat Pods for Wold Escapes near Driffield, East Yorkshire.
Each pod measured 7m x 3.5m x 3.5m and was supplied fully fitted for glamping accommodation. The pods were designed to give guests a compact but complete place to stay, with sleeping space, cooking facilities and an en-suite shower room built in.
One of the pods is used as the Zeus glamping cabin at Wold Escapes, set within the Yorkshire Wolds countryside.
Built for Guest Accommodation
The Retreat Pod specification included a steel chassis and lifting frame, with SIP panel construction to the floor, roof and wall build-up.
The roof was finished with box-profile cladding, with vented cavities within the structure. A slip-resistant decked step was also included, giving guests a practical entrance into the pod.
The external finish was Thermowood cladding all round, with grey UPVC double glazing, white internally, and trickle vents. LED lighting was fitted to the overhang.
Fitted Interior and Shower Room
Inside, the pods were finished with redwood cladding and/or decorative MDF, LED lighting and water-resistant vinyl plank flooring.
The kitchenette included a fridge, microwave, two-ring electric hob, sink and countertop. The shower room included a shower tray and screen, WC, wash hand basin, extractor fan and electric towel rail.
The specification also included a mains-operated smoke alarm, wall-mounted touchsafe heaters, an electric 120-litre water heater and four twin electrical sockets with USB outlets.
Glazing and Guest Use
The glazing specification included 2.4m sliding patio doors, a triangular feature window above the doors, two full-height glazed panels with half openers (600mm x 1950mm), and a 1000mm x 600mm opening window.
For Wold Escapes, the finished pod gives guests a self-contained glamping cabin with sleeping space, an en-suite shower room, cooking facilities and a connection to the outdoor area.
